About Us

Founded in 2013 during happier times for Myanmar, Koe Koe Tech worked on building modern e-government for the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and National League for Democracy-led civilian government. In partnership with Population Services International (PSI), Save the Children, Worldvision, Christian Aid and others, we built maternal and child health mobile apps and chatbots that scaled to 5 million monthly active users (MAUs). With The Asia Foundation, 50 municipal townships, and USAID, we built a municipal SaaS web app that was deployed to 1 million households and used to pay monthly water and electricity bills. This work was covered by The Economist.

In happier times, we had 156 employees, 95% of whom were Myanmar nationals, with 55% women. Of those 156 people, 50 were software developers or designers, and we had 50% female engineers, important in a field where female representation is often lacking. Despite the dreadful Myanmar military coup, we still persist, with over 40 employees today at the same ratios as pre-coup.
